  • Personal Information is defined in the Privacy Act to mean information or an opinion about an identified individual, or about an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information or opinion is true or not and whether the information or opinion is recorded in a material form or not.
  • Sensitive Information is a sub-set of Personal Information and includes more sensitive Personal Information such as an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions and health information.

What kinds of Personal Information do we collect and hold?

We collect and hold a range of personal information in carrying out our business. The kinds of Personal Information we collect and hold about you will depend on the nature of your relationship with us and the circumstances of a collection, including whether we collect the information from you as a subscriber, service provider, supplier or job applicant. Job applicants

If you apply for a job with us, we may collect Personal Information directly from you when you complete an online job application or through an external party, such as a recruitment agency. In addition to the Personal Information listed in clause 1 of this Policy, the collection for Job Applicants may extend to your resume, references and right to work status.

If you are or become an employee, the handling of your personal information may be exempt from the APPs if it is directly related to your current or former employment relationship with us.

General collection

If you contact us through our website, sign up for a Meat Society Subscription or engage with us through social media or at an event, we will generally collect your name, contact details, and any other Personal Information you provide to us. We may also collect your health information (such as where you tell us your dietary preferences) and other Sensitive Information you provide
